Kareena Kapoor was born to actors-couple Randhir Kapoor and Babita nee Shivdasani. She is the granddaughter of Bollywood's legendary actor Raj Kapoor. Kareena finished her high school studies at Jamnabai Narsee School in Mumbai and later at Welham Boarding School in Dehradun. Kareena studied commerce at Mithibai College in Mumbai. She later joined Kishore Namit Kapoor's Acting School to polish her innate acting talents.
Kareena Kapoor's performance in "Chameli" {2003} as a sexworker found comparisons with those of legendary actresses Nargis, Meena Kumari and Shabana Azmi. It's no mean achievement to be compared to these iconic actresses indeed. Kareena Kapoor received Filmfare's Special Performance Award for "Chameli".
